Su investigación se enfoca en Economía de la Salud y Economía Laboral, así como también en tópicos de Economía de la Educación, Crimen y Medioambiental. Ha publicado en revistas internacionales tales como Health Economics, International Journal of Epidemiology, The Lancet Digital Health, entre otras.
Nicolás es investigador asociado del Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, University College London (UCL) en el proyecto ECHILD, e investigador adjunto de COES. Ha trabajado como Senior Research Fellow, en el Centre for Longitudinal Studies, UCL (2021-24), profesor en el Social Research Institute, UCL (2022-24) y Teaching Fellow en el Department of Political Science, UCL (2019-20). Previo a sus estudios de doctorado trabajó como Investigador Asociado en el Centro de Encuestas y Estudios Longitudinales, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2014-16) y en el Centro de Microdatos, Universidad de Chile (2012-14).
His research focuses on Health and Labor Economics, as well as topics in Educational, Crime, and Environmental Economics. He has published in international journals such as Health Economics, International Journal of Epidemiology, The Lancet Digital Health, among others.
