Sus principales temas de investigación son teoría sociológica y teorías del derecho, con especial énfasis en sociología contemporánea, teorías del derecho global, políticas públicas, teorías de la cultura y sociología de América Latina. Ha sido investigador visitante en el Centro de Investigación de Karlsruhe, Alemania, Punto de Contacto Nacional en el 7º Programa Marco de la Unión Europea, Director del Departamento de Sociología de la Universidad Alberto Hurtado, miembro del Grupo de Estudio en Ciencia Política y Derecho (Fondecyt), e investigador responsable y coinvestigador en múltiples proyectos Fondecyt.
PhD in Sociology at Bielefeld University, Germany. Master in Sociology at the Universidad Católica de Chile. BA in Social Anthropology at the Universidad Austral de Chile. His areas of research are sociological theory and theories of law, with a particular interest in contemporary sociology, theories of global law, theories of culture, public policies, and Latin American sociology. He has been a visiting researcher at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, National Contact Point for the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union, Head of the Department of Sociology at the Universidad Alberto Hurtado, member of the Study Group on Political Science and Law (Fondecyt), and principal researcher and co-researcher in different Fondecyt projects.
